 Lactation Support:

Breastmilk substitutes, while welcome when women are unable to breastfeed, have health risks associated with them. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, and sustained breastfeeding with appropriate complementary foods up to 2 years and beyond.

Breastfeeding can be an incredibly fulfilling experience that allows you and your baby frequent skin to skin bonding and all the benefits that breastmilk has to offer. It is not, however, without its challenges. In today's society, with its nuclear families, women are not always surrounded and supported by mature, experienced breastfeeding women. When faced with difficulty mastering the art of nursing their babies, they become frustrated, depressed and feel that they are a failure or are being judged by others.

We can help answer many of your breastfeeding questions and support you through the learning process.

"A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three." Grantly Dick-Read
